Social Contribution Activities

Since the Company was founded, Honda has sought to contribute to society and customers by creating quality products and technologies while coexisting harmoniously with the communities that host its operations. In the 1960s, while the Company was still in a period of early growth, Honda began to launch philanthropic initiatives designed to strengthen ties with local communities. Currently, Honda undertakes various social activities in the six regions of the Company’s worldwide operations, aiming to share joy with people all around the world and to become a company society wants to exist. Honda also strives to support initiatives that reflect local circumstances in its corporate activities overseas. In order to be able to share joy, Honda will continue to pursue various social contribution activities while communicating with customers and local residents.

Community Household Toilets

HMSI constructed 200 Individual Household toilets in Vithalapur village, Gujarat, based on the government aim to make villages open defecation free. 29% of rural India still uses open defecation. Awareness campaign highlighting benefits on hygiene, social security through these toilets are explained.

Community Water RO Plants

HMSI constructed 55, Reverse Osmosis water plants for communities based on Government direction to provide clean drinking water facilities for community to reduce water borne diseases. 12% of people in India do not have access to clean water, the highest in the world. The project is self-sustainable and has a 360 degree impact to provide health, social and economic impact.

In 2018-19, HCIL awarded 14 students selected from six IITs - Bombay, Madras, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Roorkee and Guwahati. A scholarship of cash equivalent of US $3000 is presented to each student.

Natural Disaster in Kerala

Kerala is a state on the south western, Malabar Coast of India.  Kerala received 2.5 times more rainfall over the average for August. Between August 1 and 19.Floods in Kerala killed more than 410 people. More than 1 million people were rendered homeless.  The project is to ensure availability of funds for rebuilding the lives of affected people.

August 5, 2018, HPM management and employees raised funds to support the victims of an earthquake that hit Lombok area. The fund reached a total amount of IDR 250,000,000. It was used to build 22 housings for 22 families affected by the disaster.

The future of the nation will be determined by a healthy, intelligent and smart generation. Therefore, we want to contribute in preparing it from early age through nutrition and adequacy for toddlers and their mothers.Go Health Program, in collaboration with district health office, provides supplementary healthy foods for children aged 1 to 5 years in the form of milk, eggs, fish, and other nutritious foods. It is carried out once a month for one year at 13 Integrated Health Service Posts, in the area closest to the company.

Road Construction

HACPL has two factory gates. The Gate No 2 is used for in-out of heavy traffic (containers, car carriers, trucks, etc.) The road condition has been very bad & risk of stuck/upside down trucks, risk of loss of human life, public property, parts/CKD & prod loss are of concern.The community was also facing problems. HACPL took the initiative to re-build the old road with new carpet road, which took five months to complete the project. Now traffic movement is more smooth.

Tree Planting- Road to 2020

As part of an Environment friendly campaign, HPI with Harribon Foundation and other Honda Genpo (HCPI & HPMC) through Honda Foundation Inc. (HFI) united for a tree-planting activity held at Mt. Batolusong Tanay, Rizal last October 27, 2018. Tree- Planting activity aims to preserve the environment for future generations. A total of 150 volunteers from HPI, HCPI, HPMC joined the activity. All the volunteers were able to plant 5,000 seedlings.
