Social Contribution Activities

Since the Company was founded, Honda has sought to contribute to society and customers by creating quality products and technologies while coexisting harmoniously with the communities that host its operations. In the 1960s, while the Company was still in a period of early growth, Honda began to launch philanthropic initiatives designed to strengthen ties with local communities. Currently, Honda undertakes various social activities in the six regions of the Company’s worldwide operations, aiming to share joy with people all around the world and to become a company society wants to exist. Honda also strives to support initiatives that reflect local circumstances in its corporate activities overseas. In order to be able to share joy, Honda will continue to pursue various social contribution activities while communicating with customers and local residents.

Plant Greening in Consideration of Biodiversity

The Company created a 0.4 hectare mini forest on the premises of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd.’s (HMSI) motorcycle plant in the state of Gujarat with the aim of creating a rich natural environment to protect the ecosystem. This forest, named “Sanjivani van,” is planted with more than 16,000 trees in 24 different categories. In addition, food residues are converted into compost and used for gardening in the forest.

Paving the way for a better future

Honda Cars India Ltd. received the prestigious Bhamashah- Siksha Vibhushan award (the highest education award by State Govt.) presented by Honourable Education Minister of Rajasthan, Dr. B D Kalla for Honda's contribution towards promotion of education and setting up of Govt. Girl's Senior Secondary School in Tapukara, Rajasthan. This school is one the best Govt. schools of Rajasthan in-term of infrastructure.

Honda Y-E-S Award

In 2018-19, HCIL awarded 14 students selected from six IITs - Bombay, Madras, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Roorkee and Guwahati. A scholarship of cash equivalent of US $3000 is presented to each student.

Natural Disaster in Kerala

Kerala is a state on the south western, Malabar Coast of India.  Kerala received 2.5 times more rainfall over the average for August. Between August 1 and 19.Floods in Kerala killed more than 410 people. More than 1 million people were rendered homeless.  The project is to ensure availability of funds for rebuilding the lives of affected people.

HPM for Lombok

August 5, 2018, HPM management and employees raised funds to support the victims of an earthquake that hit Lombok area. The fund reached a total amount of IDR 250,000,000. It was used to build 22 housings for 22 families affected by the disaster.

AHJ Nature Preservation & Biodiversity Program

PT Astra Honda Motor (AHJ) preserved 1,500 trees of 58 species Indonesia’s rare fruits trees. Additionally, the company planted 6,500 mangrove in several areas in Indonesia to support nature preservation and biodiversity, particularly for endemic fauna, prevent erosion and support natural environment.

Go Healthy

The future of the nation will be determined by a healthy, intelligent and smart generation. Therefore, we want to contribute in preparing it from early age through nutrition and adequacy for toddlers and their mothers.Go Health Program, in collaboration with district health office, provides supplementary healthy foods for children aged 1 to 5 years in the form of milk, eggs, fish, and other nutritious foods. It is carried out once a month for one year at 13 Integrated Health Service Posts, in the area closest to the company.

Honda Korea (HKO) supported 1 CR-V Hybrid to the disabled employees of Purme Social Farm which is a rehabilitation and welfare business for the disabled by Purme Foundation in Korea. The car will be used for 2 years to secure disabled employees’ freedom of mobility and convenience.

Turtle Rehabilitation

HMSB has donated 3,000 Malaysian ringgit for logistic costs to replace the sand at turtle nesting sites. The event took place on 22 March 2023 at Turtle Conservation and Information Centre Masjid Tanah. The purpose was to protect these ancient and fascinating creatures and ensure the health of marine ecosystems.

Honda New Zealand together with the Waimakariri District Council initiated a special 4-year project in the Kaiapoi regeneration area to establish the Honda Forest. This former red zone site will see the restoration of a lowland forest with 12,500 plantings for the enjoyment of local residents.

Atlas Group and Honda provide flood relief to Pakistan

Atlas Honda and Honda group of companies, comprising of Atlas Honda Limited, Honda Atlas Car (Pakistan) Limited, Honda Atlas Power Products (Private) Ltd., in Pakistan and Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd in Thailand, have together announced support for Rs.220 million (approx USD 1 million) as initial contribution to the flood relief effort. They contributed food boxes, shelters, tents, and water filtration units. Distribution was arranged through 10,000 touch points of Atlas Honda motorcycle dealers and community networks developed across the country through their 60 years of presence.

Tree Planting- Road to 2020

As part of an Environment friendly campaign, HPI with Harribon Foundation and other Honda Genpo (HCPI & HPMC) through Honda Foundation Inc. (HFI) united for a tree-planting activity held at Mt. Batolusong Tanay, Rizal last October 27, 2018. Tree- Planting activity aims to preserve the environment for future generations. A total of 150 volunteers from HPI, HCPI, HPMC joined the activity. All the volunteers were able to plant 5,000 seedlings.

Batang Henyo (Genius Kid)

Batang Henyo is an activity that aims to provide students who find difficulty in studying a motivational experience and boost of morale by being able to participate in Math quiz bee contest.Batang Henyo program was held at San Roque Elementary Public School last November 16, 2018. Students at 2nd and 3rd grade levels who are low-average were the participants of this activity. This also aims to encourage these students to love studying more.

Honda Khiang Khiang Thai Fund provides support for flood victims

Honda Khiang Khiang Thai Fund together with Motorcycle and Automobile dealers provides support to flood victims in the 4 provinces of Chaiyaphum, Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, and Chainat which suffered from flooding during September and October 2022. This included volunteers to clean up the school and other flood-affected areas and was 1.8 million baht in total.

Elephant Salt Lick

On February 25, 2023, Honda Thailand Foundation organized “the Elephant Salt Lick Promotion Project” to support the operations of the Patchara Suthakchanurak Foundation under the royal patronage at Khao Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary, Chachoengsao Province. This year, over 200 associates from Honda group of companies in Thailand and approximately 60 local villagers volunteered and participated in the project by providing minerals in six salt lick areas, The contribution from the foundation for the project was valued at 400,000 baht in total.

We for green club

The company has supported " We for Green Club ", which aims to save the environment. Major activities are to plant trees for the forest in order to nourish nature and natural resources and to restore the ecosystem to be in harmony. This year we had 33 associates participating in Pangsida National Parkin Sakaeo with 25 local people planting 2,100 trees.

Student Scholarship

Thai Honda Manufacturing contributed financial aid scholarships for students of schools located not far from TH more than 50 Km. There were 390 scholarships, 875,000 baht/year. TH executives and employees participated in the event. It is aimed to increase the opportunity for education of students who study well but have financial problems.
