Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd Completes 5.6 MWp Solar Power with BESS Project to Advance Sustainable Manufacturing

Date : 15/09/26

Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd (HMSB) has successfully completed the installation of a 5.6 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) system at its manufacturing facility in April 2026, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and carbon reduction.

The project comprises 5.6 MWp Solar power system, supported by a 5.8 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The installation is expected to generate approximately 7,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 4,600 tones per year. The renewable energy generated will supply around 10% of HMSB annual electricity consumption, contributing to a lower-carbon manufacturing operation.

HMSB highlighted that “The completion of this solar power project marks an important milestone in Honda Malaysia’s sustainability journey. Beyond reducing our environmental footprint, it reflects our commitment to responsible manufacturing and our aspiration to contribute towards a carbon-neutral future.”

This initiative reinforces HMSB’s ongoing efforts to integrate renewable energy solutions into its operations while supporting Honda’s global vision of achieving a sustainable and carbon-neutral society.
